A buttery yellow cushion. A green reading chair. A terracotta pot beside an open garden door. Sometimes a small change makes your home feel ready for a new season.
For women choosing their first home, refreshing a much-loved space or planning their next chapter, colour offers a lovely starting point: how do you want your home to feel this summer?
South Africa’s summer 2026/27 sits between two colour forecasts. Plascon’s 2026 palettes bring together yellow, blue, earthy shades and expressive accents, while Dulux’s newly announced 2027 direction includes Soulful Sage. Here are five ways to turn that inspiration into a home that feels like you.
AI-created interior inspiration: these are concept visuals, not photographs of properties for sale. Colours shown are illustrative, not exact paint matches.
Soft yellow can give a room a cheerful, welcoming character. If you love spaces that feel open and sociable, this may be your summer accent.
Try it: add two cushion covers, a table runner or a ceramic bowl against warm white and natural wood. Let the colour brighten a corner before committing to a whole wall.
These greens echo the garden and work beautifully with linen, timber and woven textures. They can communicate a preference for a grounded, unhurried atmosphere.
Try it: a green throw, botanical artwork or a reading chair beside a window. Use existing plants to connect the palette to your outdoor space.
Pale blue creates an airy impression; deeper blue adds definition and a more dramatic focal point. Together, they offer a summer look that can be gentle or confident.
Try it: blue bedding with cream linen, or one blue accent chair in a neutral lounge. Check the colour beside your floor and curtains before buying.
Clay tones and rich browns can make a space feel welcoming and lived in. They suit a home where texture, familiar pieces and gathering around the table matter.
Try it: terracotta planters, a woven basket and a warm-toned throw. Balance heavier shades with light fabrics for summer.
A small expressive accent can bring energy to an otherwise quiet room. If you enjoy a little surprise, let an artwork, vase or flowers do the talking.
Try it: repeat one accent in two small details rather than replacing everything. Your home can have personality without a major shopping bill.
They can express the mood you want to create and the things you enjoy. They do not diagnose your personality, and there is no colour every woman should choose. Your light, memories, culture and personal taste all belong in the decision.
Before a big makeover, clear surfaces, attend to visible maintenance and let natural light in. Keep larger areas visually coherent and use removable accents to add interest. Test paint samples in morning and afternoon light: screens and room lighting change how colours appear.
A fashionable colour does not guarantee a higher selling price. Let’s discuss your home, likely buyers and budget before you spend on preparing it for sale.

If you are a woman already working in property, or exploring the profession, your interest in homes and people can be the start of a useful conversation. The work also needs training, compliance, consistent follow-up and a realistic business plan.
